Updated: Sep 28, 2022

Eeek! How exciting is it to be invited to a wedding? You get to celebrate love between people that you adore and as a bonus get to spend an amazing time with family and/or friends. Besides picking an epic gift and just gracing everyone with your fabulous presence, you have to find the perfect outfit that adheres to dress codes and abides by wedding rules (hang on, there are rules?). Luckily you stumbled across the ultimate guide to picking your wedding guest outfit and celebrating the wedding in style;

WEDDING DRESS CODES

Let’s start by explaining some dress codes that may have been referred to on your invite;

  • White Tie- As formal as it gets. Very strict dress code, heels and a long formal gown. Rarely is used anymore.

  • Black Tie- Most. Floor-length fancy dresses and full suits. Heels are still preferable

  • Formal- You can still never be overdressed but can be a little bit more relaxed if you would like.

  • Semi-Formal or Cocktail-You can rock your shorter hemlines such as knee-length dresses.

  • Daytime or Casual- The most relaxed of all the dress codes, think going out for dinner or a nice brunch. Sundresses and sandals/flats are totally acceptable. Even a nice blouse and a skirts or suit pants can work.
